About the Designer
Ann stumbled upon jewelry making by accident. She began by making jewelry to enhance her personal wardrobe. In the beginning she had no desire to market her work. It was just creative expression. Then friends became interested and requested her jewelry. At a dinner party one friend insisted on purchasing a necklace and bracelet. Over lasagna and wine the concept of Northern Light Jewels was born. Ann then went on to design pieces for a bridal shop and art gallery. Today she markets her work through home parties. Ann still strives to create unique, vintage inspired and modern jewelry that will enhance ones natural beauty. Many pieces are one of a kind. She enjoys seeing clients wear her jewelry and feeling just a bit prettier. Her hope is that they will feel like a princess wearing her designs. In addition to making jewelry Ann is an avid cyclist and skier. She also hikes and gardens.

When she first started selling jewelry the business was called Dark Horse Designs. Named after her beloved horse Remire who was handsome and elegant. Friends felt that name sounded sinister. However to Ann it felt elegant because Remire was so pretty. Again with friends over food and wine the name was changed to Northern Light Jewels. Much of her inspiration comes from her ski house in the Northern Hills of Maine as well as gemstones. Ann uses Swarovski Crystal in many designs. Swarovski names many of their colors after gemstones and elements found in nature. They also put a special coating on the crystal called Aura Borealis. Thus the name Northern Light Jewels was born.
